The Icelandic Innovation Award 2016

  • Ragnheiður Elín Árnadóttir, iðnaðar- og viðskiptaráðherra afhenti Davíð Gunnarssyni, framkvæmdastjóra Dohop verðlaunin.

The company, Dohop, was granted the Icelandic Innovation Award 2016 at the Innovation Congress this morning. Davíð Gunnarsson, CEO of Dohop, accepted the awards from Ragnheiður Elín Árnadóttir, the Icelandic Minister of Industry and Commerce.

The company was founded in 2004 and is an easy-to-use flight search engine. Dohop search and match routes to find the best way to fly between two places, and then search for the best prices for those routes. Dohop also find rental cars and hotel rooms.

At the 2014 World Travel Awards Dohop was voted “The World's Leading's Flight Search Engine”.

The Icelandic Innovation Award is organised and presented by the Icelandic Centre of Research, Promote Iceland, The Innovation Centre Iceland and the New Venture Business Fund. The award was first granted in 1994 at the annual Innovation Congress. The objective of the award is to emphasise the important connection between research, innovation and knowledge on the one hand and increased value creation in the economy on the other.
