The main objective of HERA is to promote research cooperation within humanities in Europe, e.g. by offering research grants.
Deadlines are every three years.
The last deadline for applications was in 2018 for projects starting in the summer of 2019.
HERA – Humanities in the European Research Area - is a partnership between 24 Humanities Research Councils across Europe and the European Commission, with the objective of firmly establishing the humanities in the European Research Area and in the European Commission Framework Programmes.
The objectives of HERA is to promote cooperation between research councils and funding agencies in Europe, offer joint research programmes within the humanities, define methods of evaluating the impact of the humanities in the European Research Area, and to act as one of the main advocates for humanities research in Europe.
Researchers in the field of humanities in a wide sense (including some links to the social sciences). There are calls for proposals within HERA every 3 years. Researchers and research groups in the field of humanities, can apply. The HERA JRP requires cooperation of four countries at least.
