The UK-Iceland Explorer Scholarship fund is part of the measures introduced to strengthen the links between the UK and Iceland in education, research, innovation, and space science. The specific objective of the fund is to give Icelandic students the opportunity to study in the UK with a scholarship.
Awardees are chosen based on, inter alia: their academic results, connection of their studies to the Iceland-UK cooperation, and ambition. The selection process also aims to ensure diversity and inclusivity. The grant is open to any field, but applications connected to space science and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) are prioritised as the UK Space Agency provides the funding. Additionally, the following fields are mutual interests of UK and Iceland and will be considered during the selection process: Sustainability and Climate Change; Peace, Security, and International Relations; Global and Public Health.
