Arctic Research and Studies
What are the objectives?
The programme is based on a Memorandum of Understanding concerning co-operation between Iceland and Norway in the field of Arctic scientific research. The Icelandic and Norwegian Ministries of Foreign Affairs finance the Artic Research and Studies programme. The Icelandic Centre for Research (Rannís) is responsible for the administration of the programme in cooperation with the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir). The contact person for the programme at Rannís is Egill Thor Níelsson and the contact person at HK-dir is Herdis Kolle. Grants are awarded for preperatory support for the initiation of joint grant applications.“
Who can apply?
Icelandic and Norwegian institutions can apply and be partners.
Individuals can not apply.

1. Read the Programme Guide 2023-2026
2. Complete Annexes:
- Annex 1: Budget and Activity Plan.
- Annex 2: Declaration of Honour.
- Annex 3: Mandate Letter.
3. Fill out the online application form for 2023-2026 and submit.
