Target group

Higher Education Institutions and Research Institutions.


To encourage scientific cooperation between higher education institutions and research organizations in Norway and Iceland in the field of Arctic science.


The current phase ended in 2017 and inforamtion about next phase, starting as from 2019, will be published here.


The programme and it's the objectives?

The programme is based on a Memorandum of Understanding concerning co-operation between Iceland and Norway in the field of Arctic scientific research. The Icelandic and Norwegian Ministries of Foreign Affairs own and finance the Artic Research and Studies programme. The Icelandic Centre for Research (Rannis) is responsible for the administration of programme in cooperation with the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Education (SIU). Grants are awarded for two activity types:

  • Long term cooperation between Icelandic and Norwegian institutions
  • Preparatory support for the initiation of joint grant applications

Who can apply?

Icelandic and Norwegian institutions can apply and be partners.
Individuals can not apply.

How to apply?

2. Complete Annexes one , two and three
3. Fill out the online application 2017 and submit.
