ISThe objective of the Program is to bring together the knowledge and strengths of different disciplines, thus contributing to a better understanding of Icelandic society and the environment, finding solutions, and supporting a diverse and innovative society in times of rapid changes.
The Program is divided into three categories in line with the emphasis of the Science and Technology Policy Council:
Environmental issues and sustainability
Health and welfare
Life and jobs in a changing world
Collaboration between universities, organisations and businesses is encouraged.
The grant allocations aim to accelerate development within these three categories. Interdisciplinary collaboration, promoting research and innovation, is encouraged. It is essential in the applications to bring together the knowledge and strengths of different disciplines, technologies, and scientific categories including social sciences and humanities, and to cover the entire innovation process from research to utilization. The aim of the work is to increase the understanding of Icelandic society and the environment, to find solutions and support for a diverse and innovation-oriented society in times of rapid change.
International collaboration is encouraged, but grants will only be paid into bank accounts of Icelandic organisations, institutes, or companies. The grants may be used to co-finance internationally funded projects with a similar purpose.
Applications are only accepted through the Rannís electronic application system.
Rannís is responsible for the administration of the Program.
