The Minister of Education, Science and Culture has appointed a new Board for the Icelandic Research Fund (cf. art. 4 from the Act on Public Support for Scientific Research No. 3/2003). The tenure is 2009-2012 and the Board consists of the following individuals:

The role of the Icelandic Research Fund is to support scientific research in Iceland. For this purpose the Fund supports specific research projects of individuals, research teams, universities, research institutes, and companies. This applies to both basic research and applied research. The Icelandic Research Fund provides grants according the general priorities of the Science and Technology Policy Council and professional appraisal of all new proposals.
