IASC arctic project funding opportunities in 2023 and ICARP IV community-wide engagement 

The annual Research Convention will be held Thursday November 24 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. The title of the convention is "Knowledge for the benefit of society: Research Impact in Iceland". The event will be located at Hilton Reykjavik Nordica, 2nd floor.

The main objective of the Icelandic Climate Fund is to support innovation projects in the field of climate issues and projects that aim at providing information and education related to the impact of climate change. Deadline December 6 at 15:00.

The project must be developed within a European University Alliance in collaboration with at least two SMEs and research centers. Each project will be supported by 10 million euros, with duration up to four years. The application deadline is January 24, 2023.

Rannís presents a new pilot initiative, a training program for doctoral supervisors at Icelandic universities during academic year 2022-2023. 

The Workshop took place on the 25th and 26th of August 2022 and was co-organized by Greenland Research Council, Greenland Institute of Natural Resources, Arctic Hub, Icelandic Arctic Cooperation Network, and the Icelandic Centre for Research (Rannis). 

The annual Innovation Congress will be held on Tuesday, 20 September at 13:30-15.00 in Gróska. The congress this year is entitled: Let‘s export Icelandic ingenuity!

The event will take place online on 28 and 29 september 2022, allowing everyone to get involved from anywhere.

Earlier this year, Rannís launched a call for applications to the newly established UK-Iceland fund, which aims to enhance academic cooperation between Iceland and the UK. The first scholarships have now been awarded to four candidates who will start their studies in the UK this autumn.

Tuesday 13 September there will be a workshop on how to write grant applications for LIFE, the EU funding instrument for the environment and climate action. 

A two-day workshop will be held from 25-26 August 2022 in Nuuk to explore possibilities for strengthened cooperation between the Greenland and Iceland research communities.

A presentation on the LIFE programme and newly published calls for proposals will be given on 1 June at 14:00-16:00.

Greenland and Iceland reach a new strategic agreement to strengthen cooperation in research and education. 

Application deadline is at 15:00, on June 15, 2022.

Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, Minister of Science, Industry and Innovation has appointed Ágúst Hjörtur Ingþórsson director of the The Icelandic Centre for Research from 1 April.

Eurostars is a funding instrument that supports innovative SMEs and project partners (large companies, universities, research organisations and other types of organisations) by funding international collaborative R&D and innovation projects.

The Board of The Icelandic Research Fund has completed the allocation of grants for new research projects for 2022, the largest in the fund's history. A total of 355 valid applications were received by the Research Fund, 82 of which were funded, or just over 23%.
