The minister of education, science and culture has allocated grants for 2021 from the Education Research Fund. A total of 23 valid applications were received by the Fund, four of which were funded for a total of ISK 72.547.500.

The Arctic Research and Studies programme 2019-2020 awards preparatory grants to encourage cooperation between Iceland and Norway in the field of Arctic Science. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis given availability of funds.

A virtual workshop run by Vitae on behalf of Euraxess, with the cooperation of RANNÍS and the University of Iceland Graduate School, will be held the 21st of June at 09:00-12:00 GMT.

The event will take place online on 23 and 24 June 2021, allowing everyone to get involved from anywhere.

Next generation of four EU programmes managed by Rannis will be launched on 15 April 2021 at 14:00-16:00. The opening event will be streamed directly from the Reykjavik Municipal Theatre. Due to Covid-19 restrictions no audience is allowed, but anyone interested can watch the event on the Rannis website, as Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, European Solidarity Corps and Creative Europe will be officially launched in Iceland.

CHANSE, Collaboration of Humanities and Social Sciences in Europe, a programme under Horizon Europe, supports transnational research projects under the theme: Transformations: Social and Cultural Dynamics in the Digital Age, with a total budget of EUR 36 million.

The Board of The Icelandic Research Fund has completed the allocation of grants for new research projects for 2021, the largest in the fund's history. A total of 402 valid applications were received by the Research Fund, 82 of which were funded, or about 20%.
