An International Seminar

Good Nordic Practices in Peer Review

30 October 2009

Academy of Finland, Assembly Hall

Vilhonvuorenkatu 6, Helsinki, FINLAND

Organised by the NordForsk NORIA-net Project on the

Development of Peer Review in the Nordic Context

The project charts current activities and experiences with peer review method in research evaluations in all Nordic countries and evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of the method as it is used today. It identifies examples of good practices in the use of peer review. Based on this groundwork, the project seeks to develop a set of principles for the use of peers in assessment and evaluation of research and research applications, and to develop a Nordic network for planning joint Nordic peer review activities and for organising Nordic expert panels to evaluate research grant applications.

The partner organisations of the project are: Academy of Finland, Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation, Swedish Council for Working Life and Social Research, Swedish Research Council, The Islandic Centre for Research, and The Research Council of Norway.

The seminar is directed to research funding and science policy experts, as well as to research administration personnel in universities and other research institutes.
