Rannís presents a new
pilot initiative, a training program for doctoral supervisors at Icelandic
universities during academic year 2022-2023.
The British organization for researcher development Vitae will provide the training on the behalf of Rannís. Four Icelandic universities that grant doctoral degrees will take part in the trainings, which will take place online and in English. Dr. Jen Allanson will deliver the trainings.
The universities are:
Registration is now open for the trainings, which begin on September 23.
Current or prospective PhD supervisors, members of doctoral committees, postdoctoral researchers and other academic staff at the participating institutions who work with PhD students or have an interest in doctoral supervision are encouraged to apply.
Since the training program is a pilot initiative, enrollment is limited to 30. The training slots are distributed among the participating institutions as follows: the Agricultural University of Iceland (3), Reykjavík University (7), the University of Akureyri (4) and the University of Iceland (16).
The training is divided into six sessions, each of which builds upon the prior meetings. For that reason, it is desirable, though not required, that participants attend all trainings in the series. Each university decides autonomously how to distribute their slots in the trainings.
Questions about the trainings or the selection of participants should be directed to the following representatives of each institution:
Agricultural University of Iceland: Hlynur Óskarsson (hlynur@lbhi.is)
Reykjavík University: Kristján Kristjánsson (kk@ru.is)
University of Akureyri: Guðrún Rósa Þórsteinsdóttir (gudrunth@unak.is)
University of Iceland: Toby Erik Wikström (tew@hi.is)
