The annual Research Convention will be held Thursday November 24 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. The title of the convention is "Knowledge for the benefit of society: Research Impact in Iceland". The event will be located at Hilton Reykjavik Nordica, 2nd floor.
Rannis and the Icelandic Science and Technology Policy Council invite you to the annual Research Convention on Thursday, November 24, 2022.
The convention will be held in Icelandic.
This year the focus will be on the impact of research in Iceland. Recently, the Ministry of higher Education, Science and Innovation issued an impact evaluation of the Icelandic Research Fund for the years 2011-2015 . The evaluation report will be discussed at the convention. According to the impact evaluation, the Icelandic Research Fund is indispensable for the Icelandic scientific community, grants from the fund are an important first step in starting research and as a result increase the opportunities for beneficiaries to apply for foreign grants.
IRIS (The Icelandic Research Information System) will also be discussed at the Convention. IRIS is an information portal that gathers in one place all research activity and societal dissemination of knowledge in research at Icelandic universities and institutions that are members of the system. IRIS, launched earlier this year, is under development and will change as time goes by, with more than 30,000 research products already published in the system.
At the end of the Convention, the Science and Technology Policy Council's Motivation Award will be awarded to a scientist who is considered to have excelled early in his career and has created expectations of contributions to scientific work that underpins human life in Iceland.
